Undergraduate Mentorship
I've mentored undergraduates considering a Ph.D. in the Humanities through the Creating Connections Consortium Summit and the Morningside Institute. At Bowdoin I am a faculty mentor for the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship.
Graduate Mentorship
I have served on the orals committee for a graduate student in Yale's English Department with a list focused on Chaucer and his Italian influences. I have also contributed to national mentorship structures for the Dante Society of America's Graduate Group.
Outreach
I've taken my scholarship beyond the walls of the university through seminars and guest teaching in high schools, off-campus institutes, and public-facing podcasts. I organized Dante Underground with Giacomo Berchi, and participate regularly in the Settimana di Studi Danteschi in Palermo.
Digital Dante
I am an Assistant Editor for Digital Dante, an online hub for original research and ideas on Dante and his work created by Teodolinda Barolini.
First Year Student Advising
As a Fellow of Yale's Branford College, I advised first-year students on course selection, choosing a major, and academic success.
Arts & Sciences Graduate Council
For two years, I was the President of the graduate student government for Columbia's GSAS, representing ~3,000 students. Under my leadership, ASGC created the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair position and implemented Diversity Initiative Grants.
Diversity and Inclusion
I was a Provost's Diversity Fellow at Columbia University, and participated in multiple programs dedicated to increasing the diversity of the higher education pipeline. I spoke at liberal arts colleges including Bates and Williams through C3-LADO, and taught in the Columbia-Leadership Alliance Summer Research Program in 2022.
GSAS Writing Studio
While at Columbia, I worked as a Senior Writing Consultant at the GSAS Writing Studio, a center dedicated to supporting dissertation writers at all stages through workshops, facilitated writing groups, writing retreats, and one-on-one consultations. I worked at the Writing Studio from its foundation in 2018 to my graduation in 2023.
Literature Humanities Syllabus Review
In the spring of 2021 I was the Preceptor representative on the triennial review of the Literature Humanities curriculum at Columbia. This review led to a new syllabus which expands the conception of Western Literature to encompass marginalized and underrepresented voices.
University Committees
In my capacity as President of ASGC, I sat on several Columbia University committees including the Executive Committee of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, the Educational Policy and Planning Committee, and the Student Library Advisory Council.
